What Michael Phelps Can Teach You About Your Home Based Business

by Laura Hand on June 15, 2009

Michael Phelps is an American hero. He has won 14 career Olympic gold medals… that’s more than any other Olympian. He also currently holds 7 world records in swimming, incredibly impressive by anyone’s standards.

So what to does all that have to do with you and your home based business? Well to be honest not a lot. However, if you’re looking to find phenomenal success working from home, you might want to look to Michael Phelps for inspiration.

No, I’m not saying you should spend more time at the local pool. I’m actually not talking about swimming at all. I’m talking about working hard with a goal in mind, believing in yourself and never giving up!

If you’d like to “Go For The Gold” in your home based business, here are a few tips that might just put you in the winners circle. Think of this article as your own personal training session.

Tip #1: Work Hard And Never Stop Working

It’s easy to work hard for a while and then stop. However, if you want to be the best of the best you have to work hard and do it with consistency. Olympic athletes work out all year round no matter what… they have to and so should you.

Tip #2: Listen To Your Coach

Obviously you won’t have an actual athletic coach telling you how to succeed in your home based business, but listen to the successful people who know what they’re talking about. Your upline or other successful people in your company can be a great source of knowledge and encouragement. You don’t have to figure it all out by yourself. Listen to people who have been where you want to be.

Tip #3: Ignore Negative Influences

Even record-breaking Olympians have negative influences. There are people who don’t have your best interest at heart and are only there to bring you down. However, if you really want to be a winner in your home based business, you will have to learn to ignore all those people and do whatever you need to do to be successful. Listen to the people who know what their talking about and ignore the nay-sayers.

Tip #4: Look At Your Failures As Opportunities To Learn

Nobody is perfect! So don’t be so hard on yourself. If you call a few people and none of them sign up, so what! Just look at those calls as your practice time. A real winner is someone who doesn’t let every little thing along the way get them down, but uses each experience as a chance to learn and get better.

Follow your heart, work hard and your success in a home based business won’t be just a dream, it will be a reality. Don’t just shoot for the bronze or silver… go for the gold!
