I am sure that you have already written down your resolutions for 2011. And within a few days there will be a lot of you that have already given up on them. After all, aren’t they the same resolutions you make year after year? Lose weight, get out of debt, stop smoking, find a better job.
Well, this year you should work toward accomplishing your financial resolutions. I feel that the best way to do that is to start your own home business. In fact, there are 5 reasons why you should.
Reason #1: The Economy
The economy is the first and foremost reason you should start a home based business.
The last 3 years have been difficult for a lot of people. The economy has continued to be in a downward spiral and every day seems to bring more bad news. With unemployment in the double digits for the first time since 1983, the trade deficit growing as well as our national and personal debts, the signs are all pointing toward a long recession, if not a depression. However, the recession is good news for home business owners.
The reason I can say that is people are actively searching for ways to make more money. Many are turning to the network marketing industry as a way to supplement their income from their day job while working from home part-time.
Reason #2: Being Your Own Boss
The second reason to start your own home business is to become your own boss.
Let’s face it, no one likes to have someone telling them when they have to be at work. How much their time and effort is worth. When you can take vacation. If you can have sick leave and if you are good enough to promote. But that is exactly what happens if you work for someone else.
When you are your own boss, you can set your own hours. Give yourself a raise anytime you like just by working a little harder. Take vacations whenever, wherever and for however long you want to. You can stay home with your kids. Working for yourself means you create time freedom. This freedom to be in control of your own schedule allows you to be more devoted to what is most important to you.
It has always been the American dream to work for yourself!
Reason #3: To Create Financial Security
The third reason to be a home business owner is to create financial security.
What did Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Hearst, and Johnson all have in common? They created generational wealth during an economic downturn. While everyone else was looking for a handout or a “bailout”, they pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and created financial security. The same opportunity still exists today if you are willing to put in the time and effort.
So just what is generational wealth? Generational wealth is money or something of value that gets passed on to your heirs. It is what builds a family legacy.
The great thing about most network marketing businesses is that the business can be willed up to three generations. So as you are building your business you are securing your financial future today but you are also creating a lasting legacy that will provide security for your family tomorrow.
Reason #4: Taxes
The fourth reason to start your own home based business is to save on your taxes.
This is one of the most important aspects of a home business but often one of the most over looked. Did you know in the current tax code there are over 150 legitimate tax deductions for a home business owner to take? That means you can take off almost every expense you have in building your business. All for just showing an intent to make a profit by working your business at least 15 hours a week. (And who isn’t able to make a profit by actually working your business?)
Reason #5: The Internet
The final reason I believe you should start a home business this year is the internet.
With the advent of the internet, marketing your business to the masses has become easier than ever. The best thing is even a novice can learn how to market online. There are some excellent training programs out there that won’t cost you an arm and a leg (And the cost is tax deductible).
Most network marketing companies today, have some way of marketing online though most people don’t take full advantage of it. You want to set yourself apart with SEO (Search Engine Optimization), Web 2.0 strategies and branding of yourself. You can easily learn these techniques. Find someone who is having success with internet marketing and use them as a mentor.
The great thing about the internet is there are multiple ways you can market for free. You don’t have to use every single one of them. However, if you become proficient in just a few of them, you can earn yourself a very handsome living for your efforts.
That is the other thing that is good about marketing your business online. You don’t have to keep performing the same action over and over again to generate leads like some traditional marketing techniques. With internet marketing, your original effort is still working long after you perform the action. So as you continue to market online, your efforts are being compounded.
